✦ About the Rhyme ✦

A Counting-Out Rhyme

“Eeny, Meeny, Miny, Moe” is a counting-out rhyme, used to pick a player or decide who goes first. Rhymes like it have been chanted by children in many countries for hundreds of years, and the words have changed many times along the way.

The tiger version shared here is the one most children know today. The fun is in the pointing: one word per person, around the circle, until the last word lands on someone.
